We tested the Billy Boat Dual Exhaust on a Pontiac Solstice, upgrading to an aftermarket carbon fiber facia. We heard about Billy Boat at the Scottsdale Pavilion Car Show, the world's oldest continuously running car show, and home to some highly renowned performance enthusiasts. We spoke with Dennis Hannes and asked him if he would be
interested in taking a look at the first Solstice to enter the state. He gladly invited the owner down to
there fabrication facility for the crew to take a look. When the car arrived, Billy Boat came out and had a look at the car, he
immediately said “This car needs dual exhaust”!
So after the 2005 SEMA show had passed, and the B&B team had
some time on there hands, they invited us to drop off the Solstice for a week, as it was "going under
the knife." as they say. Seven impatient days later, Billy Boat announced that the patient was cured, and we came down to roll her out of the operating room. We looked at this new balaced back end, and even before we started her up, all we could think of was, “Billy Boat was right, this car NEEDS a dual
exhaust”!.
Then, we started her up and she purred like a different animal, I remember
thinking to myself man this is just awesome! Anyway since then a few
more companies have released dual exhaust kits for the Pontiac Solstice
and Saturn Sky which gives owners a few more options. Changing your
exhaust is not as complicated as you may think, any muffler shop can do
the conversion at a reasonable cost providing you supply the new
exhaust kit.
If you are planning on going dual you will need to purchase a new rear
valence or “fascia” to accommodate the second exhaust tip. These range
in price from $299 for a basic plastic unit up to $499 for a full
Carbon Fiber unit. The new exhaust will not only enhance the look of
your car but will also free up a few ponies as well. The B&B Dual
Exhaust kit will give your 2.4L Ecotec motor an extra 10HP at the fly
wheel and 7RWHP!
